From the Principal
The term has started well and promises to be a very busy one with Book Week, Growing Up program, band rehearsals, Swimming and Water Safety program, just to name a few.
Please remember that we have two whole school assemblies this term, on Friday 18 August and Friday 29 September. You are welcome to attend if your child’s class is presenting an item at the assembly.
Thanks and congratulations go to Mandy-Jane Quinn who has gone to Austins Ferry Primary as Acting Assistant Principal for the rest of this term. Mr Ashley McPherson will be joining us whilst Mandy-Jane is at Austins Ferry. Please make Ashley welcome as he gets to know our great school community.
In other staffing news, Brenda McLarin our SBM is on leave and Linda Spink is filling this role. While Linda isn't new to our school or the role, this is the first time she's been acting on a full-time basis in the SBM role at LNPS. I know you’ll all continue to make Linda feel welcome too.
The gaga pit has been a great hit with students at recess and lunch breaks. A number of students have been using the gaga pit after school. The gaga pit and playground are not supervised by teaching staff after school hours as they are often involved in meetings. Students who are waiting for parents to pick them up should be waiting in the office area until parents arrive.
Finally, please ensure that if your child is unwell or unable to attend school for any reason, that you contact the school office to inform staff as soon as possible and remember that each and every school day matters!

School Association Update
Over the school holidays, the School Association cooked up 400 delicious Ziggy’s sausages for our hungry Bunnings customers. We raised $1334 which is a fantastic effort. These funds will be put toward valuable initiatives to help your child such as the Early Years Water Awareness Program. We'll be hosting another Bunnings BBQ at the Mornington store on Saturday 18 November and we'll be calling for volunteers closer to the date. Thank you to the staff and parents who volunteered their time on the day: Lara, David, Louisa, Keith, Peter, Bec, Luke and Kate. A special shout out to our wonderful Grade 5 student volunteers Charlotte and Esmé who served customers with a smile throughout and did a wonderful job of representing the school.
The School Association will be hosting a Colour Fun Run at the end of September. The Fundraising Committee will be getting together at the Risdon Brook Hotel for dinner/drinks from 6pm on Monday 14 August to discuss this event and future ideas. We'd love to see some new faces, so if you've been considering getting involved, please join us for an informal catch-up.

Friday 29 September | Assembly 9:40am Prep to Year 6. Class hosting is 5/6H. Classes presenting are 1/2L, 3/4S, 5/6K |

School Hours – Drop Off/Pick Up
Lindisfarne North Primary’s supervised school hours are from 8:30am through to 2:45pm. It is important that parents do not bring children to school before school hours because there is no supervision of students at that time. Similarly, it is important parents either collect their children at the end of the school day or arrange for them to catch the bus home/make other collection arrangements so that students are not left unsupervised at the end of the school day. Unsupervised students may engage in dangerous play or put themselves in dangerous locations such as car parks being used by buses and cars during school drop off/pick up. Parents are responsible for their child outside school hours unless they have accessed school-based childcare during these times. Before and After School Care is available, which is run by the Clarence Council.
Premier’s Reading Challenge 2023
The Premier’s Reading Challenge continues until 1 September. The goal was for students to read 10 books in 10 weeks or as many as they can. Another reading log can be collected from the office if your child has completed the first one.
Book Fair
We will be having a Book Fair from Monday 21 – Friday 25 August. Parents and students may purchase books from 8:30 – 8:55am and 2:45 – 3:15pm on Wednesday 23 August, Thursday 24 August and Friday 25 August.
Kinder Enrolments for 2024
If you reside in our school intake area, and your child will be attending Kindergarten at Lindisfarne North Primary School in 2024, (turning 5 years old during 2024) please complete a form at the office.
If you are new to the school and interested in having a tour, tours are conducted on a Monday afternoon. Please ring the office to make an appointment.
Launching into Learning Term 3 Calendar
Please see below our Term 3 LiL Calendar. This term there will be some small changes with LiL Music being held in the Kindergarten on Mondays and an additional Pre-Kinder session added for Fridays. The Pre-Kinder is available for those students who have enrolled for Kinder at LNPS in 2024 and will run from 11:30 – 1pm. Play and Learn continues on Fridays at 9 – 10:30am.
From Nurse Penny
This week is Dental Health Week. Oral Health Services welcomes ALL children from babies up to 18 years of age for FREE* dental care. (* Please note that some dental care may attract a small fee and be subject to eligibility conditions.) Please phone 1300 011 013 to make a dental appointment at your local Oral Health Services Tasmania dental clinic.
Playground Toy Donations
We would like to set up some play bags for recess and lunch time to increase the imaginary play options available to students at LNPS. We are seeking donations of good quality trucks, diggers, dolls, animal hard toys (not stuffed animals), dress ups and fairies (eg. no broken parts, rust, sharp edges).
If you have anything you would like to donate, please bring these to the office and place them in the donation box. Thank you.
Swimming & Water Safety Program
Our Swimming and Water Safety Program will be taking place from 4 – 15 September for all students from Years 3 – 6. The program is normally offered to Years 3 – 5 and additional Year 6 students who are classified as ‘at risk’. For 2023, the program is being offered to all Year 6 students, as well as Years 3-5.
Scholastic Book Club
Book Club orders for Issue 7 will close on Friday 3 November. You are able to log in from the link below and place an order yourself. Your LOOP order will then be activated when the school order is submitted. Orders can still be placed with the form and payment made through the office if you wish, however the preferred method of ordering is via LOOP.
