From the Principal
As this is the last week of term, it’s timely to take a moment to reflect on all the events that have taken place in our school and express our sincere gratitude to the people that make these events possible. To our parents, thank you for continuing to work with us to educate and nurture your children. To students, thank you for your enthusiastic participation in your learning and the many rich activities and experiences our school provides. To staff, your capacity to inspire a drive for learning and ability to recognise that all students are competent and capable is outstanding.
There have been many highlights this term, too many to mention but a few immediately come to mind. These include the following:
- The determined work of our School Association which was demonstrated on several occasions during the term. Their valued efforts continue to contribute to the school’s capacity to offer experiences for students that may not have otherwise been possible.
- The grade 6 camp at Blue Lagoon and the time spent with students interacting with them in another environment. It was wonderful to see them challenge themselves and celebrate with their peers when they achieved things, they never thought they could! Their delight and success made this a fantastic experience for all.
- The ‘welcome back’ picnic with families, with the appearance of the fire brigade to conclude the event!
- Clean Up Australia Day and the enthusiasm this generated in students to conserve this beautiful part of the world.
- The construction of our yarning circle and outdoor classroom.
- The election of our student parliamentarians and the important role they play in our school.
- The school athletics carnival and the ‘can do’ attitude of all students on the day. Also the Interschool Athletics team who finished in 2nd place, congratulations.
- Our assemblies, and the fact they not only provide a showcase for student learning, but also, they enable us to come together and celebrate as a school community.
- Lastly, the daily opportunities to get to know students, to celebrate their achievements in learning, and watching them flourish.
We need you! Please watch this space for the date!
In Term 2 2024, we will be conducting sessions with anyone who wishes to volunteer in our school to enable them to complete the mandatory Safeguarding Training. We are keen to have volunteers in classrooms, to support our literacy initiatives and be members of the various teams we have in our school. Your participation, opinion and support are always welcome, and this important training enables you to do so while maintaining student safety. The date for these sessions will be shared early next term. Watch this space!
Important Reminder
The School Association AGM is on 29th April at 6pm. All welcome.
Finally, I’d like to wish all parents and students a happy and safe holiday and we look forward to a fantastic term 2 2024.

Ms Hilly is seeking some resources for STEM activities in her digital technologies classes. There will be a labelled box in the Administration area for collection of
- Plastic drink (cordial/juice/soft drink) bottles - all sizes
Could you please ensure these are washed prior. Thanks for your help.
Student Messages
To maximise student learning, we have moved to a new system of delivering student messages via our PA system at 2:30pm each day. Students will be required to attend the office to receive their messages.
To assist us, please ensure that you provide any important messages prior to 2:30pm. Any late messages won't be announced over the PA until 2:50pm.
Please inform your child of their pick up arrangements before the start of the school day.
Launching into Learning
Pre Kinder
Pre-Kinder will run every Friday (11:30am -1:00pm) starting on Friday 3 May. Sessions will be held in the Kindergarten classrooms and are designed to gently prepare your child for starting school in 2025.
The Pre-Kinder program will be supported by teachers Mrs Catherine Hocking and Mrs Ellen Breganti. Please be aware that an adult must accompany each child for Pre-Kinder, remaining for the entire session.
2025 Kindergarten enrolments will open in Term 2. Enrolment forms can be collected from the school office.
Nature Play Week
School Association News
$2,600 was raised in Term 1! Thank you. What should the school spend it on?
Come to the School Association Committee Annual General Meeting and hear the plans on where the money will go, be a part of the discussion and bring your ideas!
Do you care passionately about our school? Can you give an hour a week to support the School Association? Come to the meeting and find out more, no commitment to join or to take on a role, come and see what it’s all about.
Thanks
Your School Association Committee
Canteen
An Expression of Interest was advertised in late February 2024 to provide canteen services at Lindisfarne North Primary School. This contract was to be over a period of 3 years starting from May 2024. Unfortunately it closed on Wednesday 27 March with no interested parties.
There will not be any canteen service for the foreseeable future. If you are aware of anyone who would like to provide canteen services to LNPS please ask them to contact Brenda McLarin, School Business Manager.
Levies
Thank you to those families that have paid their levy accounts in full or who are making instalment payments. Please note that when paying your child/ren’s account that each student has an individual code that only applies to their account.
When paying your account online use the code that relates to each child rather than using only one account number for all account payments. Thank you.
Brenda McLarin
School Business Manager
Traffic Movement in the School Grounds
We have received several complaints from school community members in relation to the way vehicles have been entering and leaving the school grounds. Please adhere to the signs erected around the school and take care at all times. Parents should not be parking in the staff car park or the disability parks (unless they have a disability permit) to pick up and drop off children. Please use the visitor car park and the overflow area on the grass.
It has also been requested by Tasmanian Archives that vehicles do not go through their car park and park at the rear of the school. Thank you for your co-operation.
Happy Holidays
The last day of term 1 is Friday 12 April.
Students and staff will recommence term 2 on Monday 29 April.
